The sixth novel in the ever-more increasingly inaccurately named Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy ‘ trilogy’.
The international multi-medium phenomenon that is Douglas Adams’s Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy needs little introduction. From its beginnings as a Radio 4 series to the novels, TV, film and stage adaptations, computer games, and range of towels that followed in its wake, the adventures of Arthur Dent, Ford Prefect, Zaphod Beeblebrox and Trillian are beloved by legions of fans.
Eight years after the tragically early death of its creator, Douglas Adams, his widow Jane Belson sanctioned a sixth novel in the Hitchhiker’s series to be written by the international number-one bestselling children’s writer, Eoin Colfer, author of the Artemis Fowl novels.
Douglas Adams himself once said: “I suspect at some point in the future I will write a sixth Hitchhiker book. Five seems to be a wrong kind of number, six is a better kind of number.”
Colfer, a fan of the Hitchhiker’s series since his schooldays, brings us this sixth novel, And Another Thing…, continuing the series where Adams left off. But wasn’t the earth about to be destroyed (again) last time?
Abridged by Penny Leicester, Eoin Colfer’s eagerly anticipated sixth installment in the series will see Hitchhikers return to Radio 4 over two weeks in the Book at Bedtime slot – an unmissable treat for all fans – the perfect excuse to grab your towel and set out on another adventure around the Galaxy with some of Adams’ best loved characters!
